HISTORY
The Baroque House is very unique, adorned with metal artwork, and stain-glass windows. The house was built and designed around the front doors from an old train station in Niagara Falls. As well, the tiles for the house were also brought from the old train station. Two artists came together to create the beautiful masterpiece, which we know as Baroque Estate House.

These doors come from an Old Train Station and are decorated with metal-work. As you enter the house, you are welcomed by colour. Mary Street is still a mystery as to who it was named after. Some suggest Queen Mary, others believe it to be named after locals, or maybe there is no reason for the name at all. Niagara-on-the-Lake has gone through many names, including the original name, Butlersburg, then after it had received official status in 1781, it was known as Newark. Then it changed its name to Niagara, and finally, due to the confusion with Niagara Falls, the town was and still is named Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Along with the fully equipped kitchen, there is a BBQ on the back patio to meet all of your cooking needs. Enjoy a glass of wine in the evening in a large backyard surrounded by trees. Take a short drive to the numerous wineries and everything beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls has to offer.

HISTORY
This historic residence, The Foghorn Station, was a semi-industrial structure built in 1904 by the Department of Marine and Fisheries Canada and operated as a warning signal for marine vessels. It remains as one of the very few original structures of its kind still standing in the country.
It is a shingle or Colonial style of architecture, popular at the turn of the century, housing heavy machinery including air pumps and fog alarm until decommissioned in 1978. The building was then converted to residential use by the station keeper who also operated the two dock area lighthouse.
The property was acquired by the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1982 and is an excellent example of adaptive re-use of an industrial building for residential purposes.
After extensive renovations, the Niagara Foundation, stewards of Niagara-on-the-Lake's heritage for almost 50 years, is proud to offer the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience in this true heritage gem.
THE SPACE
Foghorn house is perfectly situated on the water, providing you with a beautiful view of the sunset every night. As you walk into the home, you are welcomed into the dining room which leads into the fully-equipped kitchen. Flowing from the dining room is the living room with a TV and a fireplace for those colder nights. There is also a queen-sized pull-out couch. The main floor bathroom provides you with a bathtub, perfect for a relaxing night with a glass of wine.
On the second level is the master bedroom with a king-sized bed, fitted with luxurious linens and bedding. The bedroom has a beautiful view, overlooking the Niagara River. Upstairs is also the master bathroom with a shower and an intimate seating area for you to lounge, or read a book. Through the french doors, you enter the backyard with seating and BBQ for you to enjoy the view of the river and Fort Niagara.

In the evening, escape to the quiet tranquility one of three bedrooms, each fitted with luxurious new memory foam mattresses and crisp linens. The home sleeps up to 6 guests in king and queen size beds.

Charming Chautauqua, aside from its interesting beginnings as a center for “literacy, social and scientific purposes” in the 1800s, is also known for breathtaking sunsets at Ryerson Park and Mississauga Beach, located at the end of the street. Join the locals for an evening beverage at the lake – directly across from the Toronto skyline – and see why National Geographic refers to this as one of the ten best places to watch the sunset.

Little Portugal didn't really get its name for having Portuguese businesses within a strip of the downtown core. Instead, it's actually a neighbourhood of a whole bunch of Portuguese people, plus a recent influx of Brazilians. In fact, about half of the people who live in this neighbourhood west of downtown Torontoès core are actually Portuguese – for now. Like many other neighbourhoods near downtown, it seems even Little Portugal is susceptible to a touch of gentrification with some hip independent businesses along College and on Dundas.
Dundas Street is the heart of the community and the location of most of the restaurants, bars, markets and bakeries that form Little Portugal's business district, and the old timers can be seen hanging around on nice afternoons, perched in rickety old chairs in front of a cafe and watching people go by. A few of the seniors who live in Little Portugal have small gardens in front of their homes. The younger crowd, on the other hand, comes out a little later in the day for dinners at one of dozens of great places serving Portuguese fare and then indulge in a few drinks at a local bar playing Fado music or top 40 tunes.
